How many encrypted emails can I send?

EncryptTitan can process 300 emails per hour per email address (sender). This limit keeps the service fair and reliable for all customers.

EncryptTitan is designed for organizations whose staff send encrypted email from their own mailboxes, and as such most customers never reach the limit.

Scenarios which may cause the limit to be exceeded include:

  • applications, devices or business systems that send automated notifications
  • shared or no-reply addresses that send most of an organization's encrypted mail
  • mail sent in batches, where most of a day's volume goes out in the space of one or two hours
  • mail routed to EncryptTitan through an SMTP relay or gateway rather than a user mailbox

If a sender exceeds their limit, the sender will be suppressed in order to allow other traffic to keep flowing. The suppressed sender will not able to send any encrypted mail until they are removed from the suppression list.

Requests to be removed must be made to our support team by logging a ticket. In the ticket subject line, make it clear that you are requesting a removal from the EncryptTitan suppression list. If the request is time-sensitive or occurs outside of business hours, ask your support agent to to escalate the ticket.

It may be necessary for us to temporarily increase the sender's limit to allow the excessive emails to be sent, but this should be treated as a last resort.

If a sender regularly exceeds their limit, we recommend discussing the business need with your account manager. In rare cases, we allow temporary limit increases up to 500 emails per hour, but only for a short, pre-arranged period of time.

When a limit increase is requested, the following operational requirements must be provided before the increase can be considered:

  • sender address/es affected
  • sending domains
  • sending IP addresses, and whether mail is relayed through a gateway or sent by an application
  • how mail reaches EncryptTitan
  • expected volume (average emails per day and peak emails per hour per sender)
